In 1995 his photographic album Long Marchers was published and China's first online digital picture library was founded by him. In the same year, he embarked on the R&D of network security trading communications technology, which was named after the BOA e-commerce theory founded by Zhang Yanjun. The productization (BOA Security System) was achieved in 1999, and thus China's first security e-commerce platform was set up.

From 1998, Zhang was no longer specialized in creating character portraits; instead, he began to tell stories by photos and dynamic images, and studied the social function of images.

After 2000 when Zhang moved to Brazil, he initiated the imaging program of "Charm of Culture" and started a bilingual magazine RevistaRECURSO both in Chinese and Portuguese, which aimed at introducing the cultural resources of China and Brazil.

In 2001, Zhang created the theory of "emotional imaging". The completely new imaging method endows the documentary film Charm of Culture with the "impressionistic" and "documentary" features.

In 2002, Zhang presided over the planning and implementation of "China-themed Carnival". This was the first time when the "Chinese culture" was presented at the Brazilian carnival.

In 2004, Zhang initiated the "Brazil-China News Award" in cooperation with the Brazil-China Economic Trade Promotion Association (CBCDE). In July, the Chinese Cultural Center was set up in St. Paul, Brazil in cooperation with the FAAP.

In 2005, Zhang went to the mountainous area in Southwestern Mountain, China alone to shoot the documentary film A Land of Magic Power, recording the cultural heritage in Southwestern Mountain, China.

In 2006, Zhang went to the deep-sea areas of Atlantic together with a fishing boat, recording the ancient fishing methods of the Indian.

In 2007, Zhang led a "Brazil- China folklore messenger delegation" and visited China. The delegation was composed of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, Union of Movies and Television Programs, simba school, television station reporters and photographers. During the period, the "Amazon Ecological Exhibition" was on show in Nanning City and Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province, China.

Since 2009, Zhang started to shoot Root in China. During the period, the "Film Culture Exhibition on Charm of Culture" was held in Xi'an Museum of Art in August, 2011.
